Week 11/15

This is what life is all about

This is a spur of the moment post coming to you from a Starbucks near Port Canaveral, Florida. I sit here typing up my fleeting thoughts after a lovely hour-long conversation with my parents back home in Manchester, UK, and now, whilst listening to Jose Gonzalez’s new album: Vestiges and Claws, of which I just discovered on Spotify’s "new releases" tab.

What a week it has been out at sea on the Disney Magic and with some great company too. This was the week our friends came to visit us and join us on the ship for their honeymoon!

I remember embarkment day so vividly: we were sat here in Starbucks awaiting news of our friend’s arrival in Orlando and before too long we were rushing back to the ship to greet them on their earlier than planned arrival. Seeing them in the Disney Magic Atrium made for almost overwhelming feelings of happiness and we all but cried when we jumped each other to say hello. It has been 3 months since we’ve seen any of our family or friends in the physical dimension and to see familiar faces after so long is one of those experiences you get too rarely. It’s a great emotion that swallows you up and reminds you about home the love that resides there.

It was a whirlwind of a week and one we wanted to happen naturally with entertaining unforced and that is exactly how it unfolded. Our friends and newlyweds dived head first, made the most of everything on offer and both port days and sea days provided new amazing experiences and shared moments. From the sunset in Key West to the spontaneous day out in Cozumel we created memories we’ll treasure forever.

I’m thankful for days like these and the rarity of them.

Don’t get me wrong, we have had an amazing time performing on the Disney Magic, I just wanted to cement this particular memory in time: the time our friends came on and we truly lived it up. If the moment presents itself to live like there’s no tomorrow, I encourage you to take it.
